I took a class at Sew Expo two years ago where the instructor covered practical and safety features that one should strive for in one’s sewing space or room.  Can’t find my notes.  One of the many great recommendations was a specific distance in inches (from glasses to where the needle goes through a pressure foot) to tell an optometrist or ophthalmologist for writing a glass lens prescription.

I’m hoping somebody knows this.  Maybe somebody has had this done for a pair of glasses?

I just thought of another source to ask — I could go to a Quality Sewing & Vacuum store, they may know this.  And I could shop while there 🙂

I do a similar thing for my glasses prescription for computer work. I literally take a tape measure and measure from my eye to the computer monitor. You could similarly measure from your eye to the presser foot. Everybody would be different – it depends on how you sit, lean, chair height, table height, etc.

      This is a great idea!

I’m going to request a prescription at my next eye appointment!

      Thanks!
