Here’s a link to a current article called “The Blue that Enchanted the World” in the Smithsonian (magazine), Nov/Dec 2022, v. 53, no 6, pages 64-75.  It’s about the history of indigo dyeing growing again in South Carolina and provides a brief history of its start in the 1740s and how archaeologists, historians, regional farmers, and fiber artists are focusing more on the origins of indigo plants, history, and traditions in this area and region.  The article has captivating photos and brief info about the current day dyers and historians.
