January 18, 2023 at 11:07 pm in reply to: Got a new iron for Xmas, still remembering last Sept’s Quilting Mayhem retreat #3654
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantHi there. I needed to be home and to look at the iron and its instructions booklet. If one googled “Rowenta DW2459 Access Steam Iron with Retractable Cord and Stainless Steel Soleplate, Black,” that’s the one I am just starting to use. So far, I’m impressed.
But like so many products, some websites or (online) ordering sites only carry so many products from one brand. It was hard for me to easily find where that one was currently available.
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantWhat totally different images or patterns that have been created on each! Looking forward to hearing about the ultimate garments made.
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantVery nicely fitting shirt! The placard looks great!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantThank you for sharing about the market experience and your fabric find!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantMary Ann, what eye-catching pieced pieces for those pin cushions. Will challenge myself to get beyond simple single fabric pieces for my next one!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantI’m going to try out that pattern. Thanks for sharing. Am planning a trip to Florida in the next few months and that’s the type of clothes I’d like to wear!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantSorry, that’s a large photo upload, not sure how to crop it.
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipant
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantAdding this one in general, maybe for 2023?!
Techniques, skills, and resources to identify fabric content:
I lurk at Value Village, Goodwill, yard sales, etc for fabric. For smaller projects, i.e. pin cushions, I’m not as concerned about fiber content. But if I find a few yards of fabric, I’m hoping for a top, vest, or something similar. Am wondering if there is interest in “how to identify fabric content” for a class or workshop. Have sent a few finds into a cool water spin ==> have a few yards to work with, could show some “it’s shrunk, obviously not okay for washing” experiences” and a good number of wash cycles, fabrics still intact.
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantThe flowers are very cheerful!
Is Roscoe a poodle or part poodle? I have two toy poodles. They prefer me to be sitting on the sofa and knitting compared to standing at the dining room table cutting fabric or sitting there with that “white thing” of a sewing machine 🙂

bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantVery nice jacket. I’m going to read up on “bull” denim, that’s a new fabric name for me!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantShanna, hi and welcome! Glad you got the sewing bug. I returned to sewing in early summer 2020 to make masks and have branched out to home accessories and simple tops. Have checked out a lot of sewing books from the public library. A cool thing about this group or chapter is there are neighborhood groups both during the week (different days, some nights & some during the day) and on weekends. Hope to meet you and others at some upcoming events. Have a fun time in September – congratulations!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantWow. Nice!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantCynthia, hi. I haven’t clicked to Makers Make for a while. And, I’m just reading this post now! Are you heading to Convergence too? It will be my first and am super excited. I’m signed up for three weaving classes. What a bright tunic — am looking forward to seeing it in person. If you’re attending, let me know and we could meet up. Take care!
bpgourmet@yahoo.comParticipantThanks for organizing the Get Together! That was a fun time last Saturday night! I enjoyed seeing faces (and the Zoom names) and found that several of us were in some of the same Vendor and Demo sessions on Sunday. And, I am not one who likes trivia games but that one was so much fun — gave us lots of people and fashions to read more about. Looking forward to attending Sew Expo in-person for the first time next year & to a Guild event there.
